Dr. Maria Santos: A renowned oceanographer and expert in underwater acoustics. Dr. Santos has been studying the sound propagation patterns in the ocean and its impact on marine life for over 30 years. Her research has contributed to the development of advanced sonar technologies used in marine research. Dr. Santos has been the heart of the RTS Research Institue's operations since 1984.

Her leading research in the sonar field has helped RTS excel in difficult operations time and time again. From search and recovery, to undstanding vast topographic zones her understanding and keeping pace with modern sonar research has helped her write over 18 peer reviewed insights on Accoustic Research. Additionally, we are proud to feature some of her work under the 'Education' page.

Captain Robert Johnson: A retired naval officer with a deep understanding of marine navigation and operations. Captain Johnson served on various naval vessels, including submarines, and has extensive experience in underwater exploration. He provides valuable insights into safe and efficient research expeditions.

While the Captain is no longer with us, we still salute his legacy and appreciate his years of hard work he provided to RTS Research Institute, and wish our greatest thanks and condolences to his family.

Dr. Lisa Reynolds: A marine ecologist specializing in marine mammal behavior and conservation. Dr. Reynolds has conducted extensive research on the migration patterns and social structures of whales and dolphins. Her work contributes to the understanding of the complex interactions between marine mammals and their environment. As a recent addition, RTS has recognized the need for documentation and research of local floura and fauna to best understand where we work.

Rebecca Ingelwood, a recent Marine Research Biologist Intern who has joined the team from California Institute of Technology, glad to bring her enthusiasm to the team as we continue to research beyond simply bathymetric mapping and into better understanding whole ecosystems. She also has been a tremendous help with clerical and administrative duties here at RTS, including maintaining this website!
You can find my blog of my time here at RTS here!

Norman Rainier: An experienced marine engineer and ship operations expert. Norman worked closely with Captain Robert Johnson, assisting him in the maintenance and operation of the research institute's two vessels. He ensures that the ships are well-maintained and equipped for research expeditions. Norman's technical skills and knowledge contribute to the smooth functioning of the institute's marine operations.
